Welcome to the Home Page of
Barefeet2005:
A Motorcyclist's Tribute to the
Barefoot Massage Therapists of America

Welcome to the 2005 edition of the Barefeet web site. For those of you new to this and its predecessor sites, my name is Chuck Lamb from Bristol Mills, Maine. I'm a retired banker and my wife Christine is a retired craft artist; we have been living in the midcoast area of Maine for eight years now. Before this, New York (interspersed with nine years in Sydney, Tokyo and Manila) was home for 35 years; there are a few things we miss about being close to the Big Apple, but not too many.

For me, retirement has given rise to new opportunities to explore life's journey, and about a year after moving to Maine I discovered the delights of receiving bodywork -- something my wife had been experiencing for many years, and now I have become hooked on it as well. A few years ago I discovered an exotic modality known as ashiatsu, or barefoot massage. And that's a brief introduction to what this trip and web site are all about.

I also count motorcycling and portrait photography among my passions, so a couple of years ago I decided to combine the three in an annual adventure on two wheels to visit some of our country's distinguished ashiatsu therapists. This year's trip will cover a span of 6-1/2 weeks, from June 23rd to August 7th, and in the course of it I shall be visiting 25 states and covering nearly 7,000 miles.

That's the short form of introduction. For more details about the trip, the rider, and all the special therapists whose combined efforts make it such a special event for me, click on  the links below.  For those of you who have the interest and time, I will be doing a weekly narrative of places I've visited along the way and people I've met, together with a bunch of photos to record the occasions, and those can be seen on the Weekly Updates page.

As I noted in last year's web site, this is intended mainly for family and friends, especially those in the massage therapy community who enrich my life so much. But it is also hoped that others viewing it will be inspired to add something new to their lives. I welcome the thoughts or comments of any who visit the site; email me at celamb@tidewater.net.
